Sales of the retail sector show an increase of +2 % compared to the previous week. Current sales are with +20 % and +12 % surpassing the same week of 2019 and 2020.

Volume shows an increase of +2 % compared to the year 2019 and +5 % in comparison with 2020. With +2 % the current calendar week is below the previous week. Up to and including week 36 of 2021 5.293.133 Austrians are full vaccinated against Covid-19. Additionally, as seen in the graph below, the number of Covid-19 patients which are hospitalized are rising.

The OTC & Homeopathy segment shows an increase of +8 % and +12 % compared to the years 2019 and 2020. Volume of OTC & HOM surpasses with +2 % the previous week. Health & Beauty shows a rise of +2 % compared to the year 2020 and an increase of +4 % compared to the preceding week. The table below shows the market dynamics of the different sub-categories. The pattern differs strongly depending on the sub-category. All have in common that there is a sligh increase compared to the last CW. But if we look at the QTD or YTD development the affore mentioned differences are obvious. Especially, the rise of Rx protected products compared to 2020 and 2019 is remarkable.

In contrast the Rx unprotected products show almost no change in values if we compare the QTD to the same time periode of 2020. In the category OTC+HOM+NEM we can see a increase in the QTD comparsion of 2020 or 2019. The group of patient care and personal care products shows a slight decrease in volume compared to QTD 2019 and almost no increase in the other time periods.
