In der aktuellen Kalenderwoche wurden 373.236 bestätigte Covid-19 Fälle in Österreich gemeldet. Dies bedeutet, dass die Anzahl an aktiven Covid-19 Fällen im Vergleich zur Vorwoche rückläufig ist.

Die Anzahl der verabreichten Impfungen stagniert weiterhin. Mit Stand dieser Woche gelten 6.587.765 Personen in Österreich als vollständig geimpft – ~ 4.100 Personen mehr als in der Vorwoche.

Betrachtet man den Retail-Markt, zeigt sich in den öffentlichen Apotheken und Hausapotheken in der 12. Kalenderwoche ein Umsatzwachstum von + 4 % im Vergleich zum Vorjahr. Verglichen mit der Vorwoche im aktuellen Jahr ist der Umsatz um – 5 % gesunken

Auch die abgesetzten Mengen weisen ein Wachstum von + 4 % im Vergleich zum Vorjahr auf. Gegenüber der Vorwoche (KW 11) verringerte sich der Absatz jedoch um – 5 %.

Die folgende Grafik stellt die Umsatzentwicklung von patentgeschützten und ungeschützten Rx Produkten dar. Nur das Segment patentgeschützte Rx Produkte zeigt eine positive Umsatzsteigerung von + 10 % im Vergleich zum Jahr 2021. Der Umsatz der ungeschützten Rx Präparate sinkt hingegen mit – 5 % gegenüber dem Vorjahr. Gegenüber der Kalenderwoche 11 gab es einen moderaten Umsatzrückgang von – 4 % für beide Kategorien.

In den Märkten Over the Counter (OTC) & Homöopathie (HOM) und Health & Beauty betrachten wir die Absatzentwicklung in Packungen. Beim direkten Vergleich zeigt sich, dass sich beide Märkte, verglichen mit der Vorjahresperiode, sehr positiv entwickeln. Das OTC & HOM Segment steigt um starke + 17 % zur Vergleichswoche im Jahr 2021. Der Absatz von Health & Beauty wächst um + 3 % verglichen mit dem Vorjahr.
Gegenüber der Kalenderwoche 11 zeigen jedoch beide Segmente eine negative Absatzentwicklung, wobei der OTC & HOM um – 7 % und der Health & Beauty Bereich um – 1 % sinkt.

Zum Abschluss sehen wir uns die Absatzentwicklung des Husten- und Erkältungsmarktes an. Wie auch schon in den letzten Wochen zeigt sich in diesem Markt weiterhin ein eindrucksvolles Wachstum im Vergleich zur Vorjahresperiode. Die Kategorie wächst um + 90 % verglichen mit dem Jahr 2021. Gegenüber der vorhergehenden Kalenderwoche 11 ist jedoch eine negative Entwicklung des Marktes um – 10 % sichtbar.

In the current calendar week 373,236 confirmed Covid-19 cases were reported in Austria. Therefore, the number of active Covid 19 cases decreased from the previous week.

A look at the current vaccination figures shows that the number of vaccinations administered is stagnating. In the current calendar week 6,587,765 people in Austria are considered fully vaccinated – an increase of ~ 4,100 versus last week.

Looking at the retail market, the 12th calendar week shows a sales growth of + 4 % compared to the previous year. Compared to the preceding week of the current year, sales decreased by – 5 %.

The development of volume in the 12th calendar week shows an increase of + 4 % compared to the year 2021. In comparison to the 11th calendar week of 2022 volume in packs diminished by – 5 %.

The following chart shows the development of patent-protected and unprotected Rx products. Only the segment of patent-protected Rx products shows a positive sales increase of + 10 % compared to 2021. Sales of unprotected Rx products decrease by – 5 % versus previous year. In comparison to calendar week 11, there was a moderate decline in sales of – 4 % for both categories.

The following chart shows the volume development for the markets Over the Counter (OTC) & Homeopathy (HOM) and Health & Beauty. Both segments develop positively in comparison to the previous year. Compared to the same period of last year, the Health and Beauty market shows a positive trend (+ 3 %). When looking at the previous week, the sales figures of the Health & Beauty market segment decrease by – 1 %. The OTC & HOM segment declines by – 7 % compared to the previous week and grows by + 17 % compared to the same week in 2021.

Let’s have a look at the sales performance of the cough & cold category finally. The tremendous sales growth continues in the current calendar week compared to last year. The sold volume in packs increases by + 90 % compared to the same week in 2021. Compared to the previous calendar week 11, a negative development of the cough & cold market by – 10 % is visible.
