In der aktuellen Kalenderwoche wurden 226.173 bestätigte Covid-19 Fälle in Österreich gemeldet. Dies bedeutet, dass die Anzahl an Covid-19 Fällen im Vergleich zur Vorwoche weiterhin rückläufig ist.
Die Anzahl der verabreichten Impfungen stagniert weiterhin. Mit Stand dieser Woche gelten 6.593.037 Personen in Österreich als vollständig geimpft – ~ 5.200 Personen mehr als in der Vorwoche.

Betrachtet man den Retail-Markt, zeigt sich in den öffentlichen Apotheken und Hausapotheken in der 13. Kalenderwoche ein starkes Umsatzwachstum von + 24 % im Vergleich zum Vorjahr. Verglichen mit der Vorwoche im aktuellen Jahr 2022 ist der Umsatz um + 4 % gestiegen.

Auch der Absatz weist ein Wachstum von + 19 % im Vergleich zum Vorjahr auf. Gegenüber der Vorwoche (KW 12) steigt der Absatz ebenfalls um + 2 %.

Die folgende Grafik stellt die Umsatzentwicklung von patentgeschützten und ungeschützten Rx Produkten dar. Beim direkten Vergleich zeigt sich, dass sich beide Segmente sehr positiv in allen Vergleichsperioden entwickeln. Der Markt der patentgeschützten Rx Produkte weist eine eindeutige Umsatzsteigerung in Höhe von + 34 % im Vergleich zum Jahr 2021 auf. Gegenüber der Kalenderwoche 12 des aktuellen Jahres steigt der Umsatz der patentgeschützten Rx Präparate um + 3 %. Ein ähnliches Bild zeigt sich für den Umsatz der ungeschützten Rx Produkte, die einen Anstieg um + 20 % zum Vorjahr und + 6 % zur Vorwoche verzeichnen.

Zunächst betrachten wir die Absatzentwicklung in Packungen der zwei Märkte Over the Counter (OTC) & Homöopathie (HOM) und Health & Beauty. Nur der OTC & HOM Markt zeigt einen positiven Trend in den Vergleichsperioden, wobei das Segment um starke + 21 % zum Vorjahr 2021 wächst. Gegenüber der Vorwoche gehen die Absatzzahlen des OTC & HOM Marktes um – 1 % zurück. Der Bereich Health & Beauty weist, verglichen mit der Vorjahresperiode und der Vorwoche, eine negative Absatzentwicklung von – 4 % und – 1 % auf.

Zum Abschluss sehen wir uns die Absatzentwicklung des Husten- und Erkältungsmarktes an. Wie auch schon in den letzten Perioden zeigt sich im Husten- und Erkältungsmarkt weiterhin ein eindrucksvolles Wachstum zur Vorjahresperiode. Die Kategorie wächst um + 91 % im Vergleich zum Jahr 2021. Gegenüber der vorhergehenden Kalenderwoche 12 ist jedoch eine negative Entwicklung des Marktes um – 9 % sichtbar.

Here you find our newsletter on the current development of the pharmaceutical market in calendar week 13 in 2022. Please note that the lockdown in the corresponding week of the previous year influences the growth numbers compared to the current period. You will receive the next newsletter on April 15th, 2022.

In the current calendar week 226,173 confirmed Covid-19 cases were reported in Austria. Therefore, the number of Covid-19 cases decreased from the previous week.

A look at the current vaccination figures shows that the number of vaccinations administered is stagnating. In the current calendar week 6,593,037 people in Austria are considered fully vaccinated – an increase of ~ 5,200 versus last week.

Looking at the retail market, the 13th calendar week shows a sales growth of + 24 % compared to the previous year. Compared to the preceding week of the current year, sales increased by + 4 %.

The development of volume in the 13th calendar week shows an increase of + 19 % compared to the year 2021. In comparison to the 12th calendar week of 2022 volume in packs is up by + 2 %.

The following chart shows the development of patent-protected and unprotected Rx products. All segments show a positive sales increase compared to 2021 and the previous week in 2022. Sales of unprotected Rx products increase with + 20 % versus the previous year. We see a strong growth in protected Rx products compared to the same time period with + 34 %. In comparison to calendar week 12 in 2022, there was a growth in sales of + 6 % for unprotected Rx products and of + 3 % for patent-protected Rx products.

The following chart depicts the volume development for the markets Over the Counter (OTC) & Homeopathy (HOM) and Health & Beauty. Both categories show a strong contrast to each other, especially if we compare the demand of 2021 with the current year. While OTC & HOM products show a growth of + 21 %, the Health & Beauty segment decreases with – 4 % compared to last year. When looking at the previous week, volume of both segments decreases by – 1 %.

Let’s have a look at the sales performance of the cough & cold category finally. The tremendous sales growth continues in the current calendar week compared to last year. The sold volume in packs increases by + 91 % compared to the same week in 2021. However, compared to the previous calendar week 12, a negative development of the cough & cold market by – 9 % is visible.
