Die Covid-19 Welle flacht diese Woche nur mehr geringfügig ab. Die aktuelle Infektionszahl ist um circa – 9 % zur Vorwoche gesunken und liegt derzeit bei 52.569 aktiven Covid-19 Fällen, die in der aktuellen Kalenderwoche gemeldet wurden. Da der Sommer und heißere Tage bevorstehen, geht man von einer weiteren Abflachung der Covid-19 Welle in den kommenden Wochen aus.

Der Retail Bereich weist in den öffentlichen Apotheken- und Hausapotheken in Kalenderwoche 18 eine negative Entwicklung des Umsatzes um – 1 % zur Vorwoche auf. Im Gegensatz dazu liegen die Umsätze mit + 10 % über dem Vorjahres-Niveau aus 2021.

Im Gegensatz zum Umsatz zeigt der Absatz in allen Bereichen einen Aufschwung. Das Absatzvolumen nimmt dabei im Vorjahresvergleich um + 4 % zu. Die positive Entwicklung setzt sich auch im aktuellen Jahr im Vergleich zur Vorwoche (KW 17) mit + 1 % fort.

Die zwei Bereiche – patentgeschützte und ungeschützte Rx Produkte – verzeichnen beide eine negative Umsatzentwicklung von – 2 % zur Vorwoche. Während der Umsatz der patentgeschützten Rx Produkte im Vergleich zum Vorjahr mit + 22 % stark wächst, fällt das Segment der ungeschützten Rx Produkte erstmals wieder auf das Niveau einer Vergleichswoche aus 2021.

Alle zwei Segmente – Over the Counter (OTC) & Homöopathie (HOM) und Health & Beauty – zeigen in beinahe allen Vergleichsperioden ein positives Absatzwachstum.

Der Absatz des Bereichs Health & Beauty sinkt zwar um – 6 % zum Vorjahr 2021, jedoch steigt das Segment OTC & HOM für den gleichen Zeitraum um + 8 %. Gegenüber der Vorwoche wachsen die Absatzzahlen des OTC & HOM und des Health & Beauty Marktes um + 2 % und + 6 %.

Zum Abschluss betrachten wir die Absatzentwicklung des Husten- und Erkältungsmarktes. Seit vielen Wochen zeigt sich im Husten- und Erkältungsmarkt ein konstantes Wachstum zum Vorjahr 2021. Der Absatzanstieg geht in der aktuelle Woche weiter mit + 62 %. Gegenüber der Vorwoche  (KW 17)  im aktuellen Jahr ist weiterhin eine positive Entwicklung des Marktes um + 1 % sichtbar.

The Covid-19 wave drops only slightly this week. In the current calendar week, 52,569 Covid-19 cases were reported in Austria. In the 18th week, the number of infections has dropped by – 9 % compared to the previous week. With summer ahead, the Covid-19 wave is expected to continue to flatten in the coming weeks.

Looking at the retail market, the 18th calendar week shows a negative development of – 1 % compared to the preceding week (CW 17). In contrast, compared to the previous year, sales are up with + 10 %.

In contrast to sales, volume in the 18th calendar week increases with + 4 % compared to the year 2021. In contrast to the 17th calendar week of 2022 volume in packs is up by + 1 %.

The following chart shows the development of patent-protected and unprotected Rx products.

The 2 segments – patent-protected and unprotected Rx products – show a negative sales development of –  2 % compared to the previous week (CW 17). While sales of patent-protected Rx products grow strongly by + 22 % compared to the previous year, the segment of unprotected Rx products falls for the first time back to the level of the comparative week from 2021.

All two segments – Over the Counter (OTC) & Homeopathy (HOM) and Health & Beauty – show a positive volume development in almost all comparison periods.

Although volume of the Health & Beauty segment decreases by – 6 % compared to the previous year 2021, the OTC & HOM segment increases by + 8 % for the same period. When looking at the previous week, volume of the segments OTC & HOM and Health & Beauty rise by + 2 % and + 6 %.

Finally, let’s have a look at the sales performance of the cough & cold market. For several weeks, the cough and cold market shows a constant growth compared to the previous year 2021. The sales growth continues in the current calendar week with + 62 %. In contrast to the preceding calendar week 17, an increase of the cough & cold market by + 1 % is visible.
