In der Quarter-to-Date Betrachtung des Umsatzes zeigt sich in den öffentlichen Apotheken und Hausapotheken im aktuellen Quartal eine Steigerung von +10 % verglichen mit 2020 während es in der gleichen Periode des letzten Jahres einen Zuwachs von +9 % gab.

Bei der Betrachtung des Absatzes zeigt sich in bisherigen Quartal eine positive Entwicklung mit +8 % verglichen mit 2020. Die dementsprechende Vergleichsperiode des Vorjahres weist hingegen eine negative Veränderung von -1 % auf.

In der aktuellen Kalenderwoche wird eine Entwicklung des Umsatzes von +18 % und +11 % im Vergleich zu 2019 bzw. 2020 verzeichnet. Der aktuelle Umsatz liegt mit +10 % über dem Vergleichswert der Vorwoche. Wie in folgender Grafik ersichtlich ist, steigt die Impfrate wieder stärker an. In der aktuellen Kalenderwoche gelten 6.078.803 Personen als vollimmunisiert. Bei den Covid-19 Infektionen  kommt es zu einem drastischen Anstieg verglichen mit der Vorwoche. Die Anzahl der hospitalisierten Patienten in den Normalstationen und Intensivstationen steigt ebenfalls an.

Die Entwicklung des Absatzes der aktuellen Woche verläuft mit +8 % positiv verglichen mit der Vorwoche. Der Absatz steigt ebenfalls um +2 % gegenüber 2019 und um +7 %  gegenüber 2020.

Das OTC & Homöopathie-Segment verzeichnet im Vergleich zur Vorwoche und der gleichen Woche im Jahr 2020 eine positive Entwicklung von +11 % und +21 % und eine Steigerung von +9 % im Vergleich zu 2019. Health & Beauty zeigt einen Anstieg von +14 % im Vergleich zur Vorwoche und eine Steigerung von +1 % im Vergleich zur korrespondierender Woche des Vorjahrs. Im Vergleich zur gleichen Woche des Jahres 2019 ist Health & Beauty jedoch um -3 % gesunken.

Im Husten- und Erkältungssegment zeigt sich ein Anstieg von +9 % im Vergleich zur Vorwoche. Der Absatz liegt mit +18 % über dem Vergleichswert von 2019 und mit +68 % deutlich über dem Wert der Vergleichswoche von 2020.

In der folgenden Tabelle zeigt sich, dass sich die unterschiedlichen Kategorien keineswegs ähnlich entwickeln. Während patentgeschützte Rx Produkte, weiterhin ein starkes Wachstum aufweisen, ist der Anstieg in der Kategorie ungeschützt Rx Produkte geringer. Der Absatz bei Patient- und Personalcare sinkt mit -1 % leicht verglichen mit 2020 in der QTD-Betrachtung.

Bei den Unterkategorien OTC, Homöopathie und Nahrungsergänzungsmittel sehen wir jedoch eine deutlichen Anstieg im QTDVergleich zum Jahr 2020 und 2019.

Here you will find our newsletter on the current development of the pharmaceutical market in calendar week 45. The next issue will be sent on 26th of November 2021. 

In calendar week 45 the Quarter to date view of the retail market shows an increase in sales of +10 % compared to 2020. The same period last year showed an +9 % increase.

The volume of the market decreased with -1 % from 2019 to 2020, while the same period of last year shows an increase of +8 %.

Sales of the retail sector show an increase of +10 % compared to the previous week. Current sales are with +18 % and +11 % surpassing the same week of 2019 and 2020.

Volume shows an increase of +2 % compared to the year 2019 and +7 % in comparison with 2020. In comparison to the previous week there is also a positive development with +8 %. Up to and including week 45 of 2021 6,078,803 Austrians are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. As seen in the graph below, the number of Covid-19 infections is increasing drastically compared to the previous week and the number of hospitalized patients is rising too.

The OTC & Homeopathy segment shows an increase of +9 % and +21 % compared to the years 2019 and 2020. Volume of OTC & HOM increases with +11 % the previous week. Health & Beauty increased with +14 % compared to the previous week and with +1 % compared to the same week in 2020. It decreased with -3 % in comparison to 2019.

In the cough & cold segment an increase of +9 % can be seen compared to the previous week. Volume is +18 % above the corresponding week of 2019 and with +68 % significantly surpassing 2020.

The table below shows the market dynamics of the different subcategories. The behaviour differs strongly depending on the segment.

If we look at the QTD development the differences are obvious. Especially, the rise of Rx protected products compared to 2020 and 2019 is remarkable. As for the Rx unproteced products we can only see a smaller increase compared to the QTD 2019 and QTD 2020. In the category OTC+HOM+NEM we can see a significant increase in the QTD comparision of 2020 and 2019.
