The volume of the market increased +5 % from 2020 to 2019 while the same period of last year showed a decrease of -2 %.

Sales of the retail sector show an increase of +1 % compared to the previous week. Current sales are with +19 % and +14 % surpassing the same week of 2019 and 2020.

Additionally, as seen in the graph below, the number of Covid-19 patients, which are hospitalized, is rising.

The tabel below shows the market dynamics of the different subcategories. The behaviour differs strongly depending on the viewed market. In common all categories expierence a slight rise compared to the last CW. But if we look at the QTD or YTD development the afore mentioned differences are obvious. Especially, the rise of Rx protected products compared to 2020 and 2019 is remarkable.
In contrast the Rx unprotected products show almost no change in values if we compare the QTD to the same time periode of 2020. In the categorie OTC+HOM+NEM we can see an increase in the QTD comparsion of 2020 or 2019. The group of patient- and personal care products show less change, a slight decrease in volume compared to QTD 2019 and almost no increase in the other time periods.
